Study on the Influence Factors of Geriatric Social Work Competency of social workers in Seniors Welfare Center

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to identify the factors that affect the geriatric social work competency of social workers at senior welfare centers. We researchers carried out a structured survey of 336 social workers working at senior welfare centers in Seoul and Gyeong-gi province. Main results are as follows. First, geriatric social work competency levels showed an average of 2.13 points (out of four) to moderate (degree that can be naturally reflected in the work). The average score per sub-region is worth Ethics. Theoretical perspective capacity (2.33 points) and competency assessment(2.09 points) and intervention capabilities (2.08 points), it appeared to Senior Services program and policy development capacity(2.02 points). Second, geriatric social work competency were different depending on gender, age, education level, social work experience, job title, work load, troubleshooting, availability, professional training experience. Finally, the factors that affect the geriatric social work competency appeared to social welfare career, positions, Satisfaction with professional training, workload. Based on these findings, we researchers suggested the followings. 1) establish systems to improve the Geriatric Social Work Competency of social workers working at senior welfare centers, 2) efforts to increase the satisfaction of the professional training required in the elderly welfare organizations (study groups support, on-site job training, etc.), 3) Appropriate work assignments, 4) Secure system that can solve your business problems when elderly welfare organization or system conflict occurs(Conflict Management Committee, the supervision system).
